Carrying Coolness Up the Mountain: The Nestea Story
Some commercials are just about selling a product. Others tell a story that stays with you long after the cameras stop rolling. The Nestea commercial we produced in Nepal was one of those rare ones.
The concept was simple yet deeply human. A group of Buddhist monks carrying a modern vending machine that dispenses chilled bottled Nestea through rugged Himalayan terrain, all the way to their mountain monastery. It was about dedication, community, and the lengths people will go to bring something meaningful to others.
Filming took us through authentic Nepalese villages, across golden crop fields, into dense jungles, over rivers, up stone staircases, and across narrow suspension bridges. The monks walked for hours under the weight of the machine. The heat, the dust, the terrain, everything you see in the film was real. This was not a constructed environment. It was a fully on location commercial shoot in Nepal where the journey itself became the story.
There was one major challenge. At that time, there was no modern vending machine available anywhere in Nepal. So we built one from scratch. Not one, but two. In production, hero props are critical. If the main unit fails, the entire shoot stops. That is not a risk we take. Backup systems are part of professional film production, and preparation is what keeps a project moving forward.
The bullock cart featured in the film brought its own logistical layer. We sourced it from the far east of Nepal and transported it by truck over a 20 hour journey. The bullocks themselves came from a separate location. These are the details that never make it to screen but define the reality of production on the ground.
Casting was another process that required time and sensitivity. We auditioned nearly one hundred real monks to find the five leads who could carry the narrative authentically, supported by dozens more as background cast. Their presence brought a depth that cannot be replicated through performance alone. This is where documentary realism meets commercial storytelling.
As Line Producer, Casting Director, and Nepal Producer, my role was to ensure that every moving part came together for the 20 member Israeli crew who arrived for the shoot. Through Location Nepal, we managed permits, customs clearance, casting, props, art direction, locations, transport, and full production logistics. From arrival to final wrap, the entire production was handled as a complete service system designed to support international commercial filming in Nepal.
The result was not just a commercial. It was a story grounded in real environments, real people, and real effort, executed with clarity and precision against the backdrop of the Himalayas. It stands as a reminder that creativity does not depend on convenience. It depends on how far you are willing to go to make an idea real.
We take on filming and photography projects of every scale. From small documentary crews to large international productions, the approach remains the same. Every detail matters. Every challenge is part of the process. And the answer is always the same. Challenge accepted.
FILMING COMMERCIALS IN REMOTE AND REAL ENVIRONMENTS
Productions like this are built on authenticity. Filming across villages, forests, rivers, and mountain terrain requires more than equipment. It requires local knowledge, logistical planning, and the ability to adapt in real time. Nepal offers a rare advantage where stories can be filmed in real environments without compromise, whether for commercial campaigns, brand films, or documentary style productions.

A GLOBAL PRODUCTION DESTINATION IN A CHANGING WORLD
In a time where production landscapes are constantly shifting across regions including the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, Nepal has emerged as a stable, visually powerful, and logistically efficient destination for film and photography projects. Brands, agencies, and production companies looking for reliable alternatives for commercial shoots, advertising campaigns, and visual storytelling are increasingly exploring Nepal for its flexibility, safety, and diverse locations.
From desert like terrains in Mustang to Himalayan peaks, dense jungles, heritage cities, and remote villages, Nepal offers a wide range of environments within a single production ecosystem. This makes it highly adaptable for global campaigns across industries including beverage, lifestyle, travel, fashion, automotive, and outdoor brands.
PLANNING A COMMERCIAL SHOOT IN NEPAL
If you are planning a commercial, brand film, or advertising shoot, the process often begins with a few key questions. How do you film in remote Himalayan locations. Who manages permits and approvals in Nepal. How do you source authentic cast and real locations. What does it take to transport props and equipment across difficult terrain. How do you execute a production efficiently within limited timelines. These are the details that define the success of a project.
